American has raised awareness of racism after the death of George Floyd. The fashion community has participated in the Black Lives Matter movement in the social media. People in the fashion industry are doing more than that to help black people.
Some are willing to do more than that. Rihanna’s lingerie line Savage x Fenty, Ganni, McCartney and Glossier have donated millions of dollars to the organizations that help the black community. Small brands also donate part of their profits to those organizations.
Apart from donations, financial support is important to the success of black community organizations and businesses. Brother Vellies founder Aurora James requested corporations to ensure that at least 15% of their products sold come from black-owned businesses. Her move started big retails like Net-a-Porter and Sephora. Law Roach, the stylist for Celine Dion and Zendaya, is launching a fund to support black-owned businesses that have been harmed by violence and uninsured.
