Health experts and authorities in Turkey waned on Sunday a potential second wave of coronavirus infections is coming as the number of daily confirmed cases has been increasing.
Health Ministry data indicated that Turkey recorded its largest number of daily new coronavirus cases on Saturday since May 16 with 1,459 new cases. The death toll resumed to decrease with 14 new fatalities.
Daily number of new coronavirus cases have decreased since April 21 with less than 1,000 daily cases in last month. Two days later, the authorities noticed a raise in new infections to 1,459 cases on June 13, which was a 50% growth in the numbers within two days.
Turkey has lifted most of the related measures in the city. Starting from June 1, Weekend curfews and travel restrictions on the country’s worst-hit 15 provinces were lifted and restaurants, malls and gyms were reopened.
Health minister warned the normalization process would not be the same as its citizens used to live before the pandemic when a vaccine or drug was not developed. The authorities warned its citizens to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing in this particular period of time.
