Turkey slammed France’s comments over Ankara’s role in Libya. Khalifa Haftar has violated the U.N.-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA), which has deteriorated the crisis in the country.
Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy said support from French encouraged Haftar to resume military attacks and further increase the pain and grievances in Libyans. It is not acceptable for a NATO ally to support the putschist who aims to force an authoritarian regime by toppling the legitimate government.
The tension between Ankara and Paris has increased since 2016. Turkey will resume supporting efforts under the auspices of the U.N. to make sure maintaining peace and stability in Libya.
France said a conversation with NATO allies is needed as Turkey actively involves in the affair of Libya.
