Leaders in the world need to connect with their people as most of them feel unsatisfied with their performance in controlling the virus

Anti-American feelings within China is growing rapidly in the pandemic.

More respondents in a survey agreed that China does a better job of controlling the coronavirus than the US.

Dalia Research and the Alliance of Democracies Foundation underwent a survey in 53 countries with 120,000 people included.

Most people in Greece, Taiwan, Ireland, South Korea, Australia and Denmark are satisfied with the performance of their government in controlling the coronavirus. Brazil, France, Italy, the US and the UK are at the bottom end of the ranking in satisfaction with the governments in dealing with the virus.

Over half of respondents (60%) agreed that China had a great response to the virus whereas a third of them said the US responded well in the pandemic. It is noticed that those respondents who satisfied with the US’s measures in the virus were mostly from Taiwan, the US and South Korea. Half of the Europeans agreed that the US is a negative force for global democracy while only a third of them believed the US bring positive force in this aspect.

The survey indicates an increase in anti-American feelings within China. According to the result in the survey, Chinese people who think the US is negatively influencing the democracy in the world has doubled from 38% in 2019 to 64% in 2020.

Rasmussen, a former Danish prime minister, said it has warned governments around the world that the connection between them and citizens is week in the coronavirus pandemic. Democratic leaders should stress the need for more democracy and freedom requested by people, he added.
